Eleventh Annual
Mayor's Awards for the Arts
April 17, 2009
Mayor's Awards for the Arts, Sioux Falls' annual celebration of local artists and arts advocates, was held Friday, April 17, 2009. Honorees in five
categories were honored during evening festivities in the Belbas Theatre of the Washington Pavilion.
Each year, the Arts Council commissions a unique piece of art by a local artist especially for Mayor's Award Honorees. These awards recognize
individuals and organizations playing vital roles in artistic achievement and arts advocacy in Sioux Falls. This years' award was created by artist Shane Junke of Sioux Falls. Five awards are created for the honorees, and one is created to join previous Mayor's Awards on display at City Hall. All in all, these works form a small but beautiful exhibit of work in our city's seat of government.
